The Bloomsbury Centre for Bioinformatics

Director: Professor David Jones

Introduction to Bioinformatics
A week long course that runs twice yearly in July and December and features an introduction to major areas of bioinformatics: protein structure prediction and modeling, sequence analysis, microarray analysis and genomics.

Application of Bioinformatics to Proteomics
NEW! BBSRC-funded introductory structural proteomics course that highlights key concepts and provides training in cutting-edge bioinformatics tools through a combination of lectures and hands-on practicals. Over four days it introduces the many benefits of applying protein structure prediction and GRID computing to proteomics research.

Ensembl Workshops
NEW! Ensembl is one of the world's primary resources for genomic research. The one day Introduction to Ensembl workshop will cover the basics of the Ensembl Human Genome Annotation Browser. The Ensembl Developers Workshop will allow developers to explore Ensembl beyond just the web browser.

Patenting in Molecular Biology
NEW! A one-day course to give life and clinical sciences students an understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) issues surrounding patenting of DNA and protein sequences.

E-Learning
HTMLW and Qarbon ViewletBuilder are two applications that have been used for the rapid creation of high-quality, user-friendly tutorials and practical material. Access is restricted to users operating within UCL and Birkbeck.

We are always interested to hear your ideas for new training courses and we will always consider requests for one-on-one training sessions for specific research problems. Please contact us with any suggestions.
